FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — The Blue Mountain girls’ swim team is young. Real young.

But what the Eagles lack in experience they have in depth.

In dual meets, depth usually translates into victories.

That was the case Thursday in Blue Mountain’s season opener at North Schuylkill.

Freshmen Caitlyn Seidel and Anna Kaplafka and sophomore Alayna Hensel each scored individual victories in a five-event streak to close the meet, propelling the Eagles to a 121-63 victory over the Spartans in the Schuylkill League dual-meet opener for both squads.

Seidel took first in the 500-yard freestyle and Kaplafka edged North Schuylkill standout Kamryn Wolfe in the 100 backstroke after the Spartans had won five of the first seven events. Hensel then teamed with Seidel and Grace Zulli to sweep the 100 breaststroke and the Eagles took the final two relays to ice it.

Freshman Keira Blozousky took first in the 50 free and 100 fly and swam on the winning 200 medley relay for North Schuylkill (1-0, 1-0). Tatiana Salefski added a win in the 200 IM, while Wolfe won the 100 freestyle.

Despite winning five of the first seven events, however, North Schuylkill still trailed 67-42. Isabella Lafko, Emma Daynorovicz and Emma Beiswinger went 1-2-3 in the 200 freestyle and Schuylkill League champion Hailey Scheuer, Anna Oettl and Shyanna White swept the diving.

Blue Mountain outpointed or tied North Schuylkill in 11 of 12 events, closing the meet on a 54-21 run.

MAHANOY CITY — McKenzie Scully (200 free, 100 back) won a pair of individual events and swam on two winning relays as the Golden Bears edged the Fillies in a Schuylkill League meet at Mahanoy Area.

Urijah Fazio (100 free) and Lily Brown (100 breast) added wins for Mahanoy Area (1-1, 1-1 SL), which won both contested relays.

Lydia Strucko won twice for Marian (0-1, 0-1), edging Brown in the 50 freestyle and taking first in the 100 fly. Ella Bones added a win in the 200 IM.

TAMAQUA — Savannah Wilson (200 IM, 100 breast), Shaylee Gormley (50 free, 100 free) and Katie Behun (500 free, 100 back) each won two individual events and swam on two winning relays as the Blue Raiders downed the Hurricanes (2-1, 0-1 SL) in a Schuylkill League meet.

Ava Jones (200 free) and Audrey Nattress (100 fly) added wins for Tamaqua (2-0, 2-0 SL), which won all 11 contested events.

Blake Brown took first in the 50 free for Mahanoy Area (0-2, 0-2).

Gabe Kamarousky (200 free), Oliver Spofford (diving) and Aidan Varney (100 free) added individual wins as the Eagles (1-0, 1-0 SL) won 11 of 12 events.

Brendan Fetterolf, Fabrizio Mangianello, Nicholas Weremedic and Owen Mentzer teamed to win the 400 free relay for North Schuylkill (0-1, 0-1).
