SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — It’s rare to have a high school sporting event during the morning on a weekday in January, but that was the case Monday as Schuylkill Haven swept a Schuylkill League boys’ and girls’ swimming dual meet against Marian.

In the girls’ meet, Hope Stauffer and Cali Stauffer each won two events as the Hurricanes downed the Fillies 94-23. On the boys’ side, Ethan Miller and Elliot Wehr each won twice as Haven captured a 92-18 victory.

The dual meet was originally scheduled for Thursday but was postponed and moved to Monday. Both schools weren’t in session Monday due to the Martin Luther King holiday.

Hope Stauffer took first in the 200-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle, while Cali Stauffer won the 50 freestyle and 500 freestyle. Jaimee Wagner (100 fly) and Riley Tarleton (100 back) were also victorious for the Hurricanes (5-6, 3-5 SL).

Ella Bones took first in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke for Marian (0-9, 0-8).

Miller won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke for the Haven boys, while Wehr touched first in the 100 fly and 100 breaststroke.

Bruce Stine (100 free) added a win for Schuylkill Haven (5-6, 4-4), while Reece Steibler (50 free, 500 free) won a pair of events for Marian (2-7, 2-6).
