ORWIGSBURG — Schuylkill Haven proved it belonged in the Schuylkill League golf team championship conversation Monday with an impressive tri-meet sweep of Nativity and Marian at Schuylkill Country Club.

Alan Evans carded a 3-under-par 69 as the Hurricanes downed Nativity 311-330 and Marian 311-350 in a battle of the top three Division II title contenders. Nativity scored a 330-350 victory over Marian.

Eli Barton added a 78 and Chase Maley shot an 81 for Schuylkill Haven. Andy Smith had a 78 and Trey Keating carded an 80 for Nativity, while Collin Yurkanin paced Marian with an 83.

Elsewhere in Schuylkill League action Monday, Jude Maziekas led the way with a 74 as North Schuylkill edged Pottsville 349-351; Owen Crossen (75), Evan Setlock (76) and Brayden Boyer (79) all shot in the 70s as Blue Mountain routed Panther Valley 314-369; Garrett Sukeena’s 84 lifted Minersville to a 390-435 win over Mahanoy Area; and Austin Frantz shot a 79 to lead Pine Grove past Weatherly 334-354.

The Lourdes at Tamaqua match was moved to Aug. 28.
