HS Soccer: Pine Grove boys shut out Tamaqua

Pine Grove 4, Tamaqua 0
PINE GROVE — Tanner Kolb scored two goals and Terrin Witmer dished out two assists to lead Pine Grove to a Schuylkill League Division I boys’ soccer victory over Tamaqua on Monday.
Quentin Umbenhauer and Grayling Kimmel added single goals for the Cardinals (12-3, 8-2 D-I), who led 3-0 at halftime.
Tamaqua’s record dropped to 2-10, 2-7 in Division I.
Peyton Renninger made eight saves for Pine Grove..
Tamaqua won the JV match 1-0.
Minersville 15, Weatherly 0
MINERSVILLE — Jordan Bowers scored three goals as Minersville overwhelmed Weatherly in a Division II match for its seventh straight victory.
Evan Handling, Chase Zimerofsky and Camden Rogers added two goals apiece for the Miners (12-3, 6-2 D-II). Zimerofsky, Handling and Landon Govern picked up two assists apiece as Minersville led 9-0 at halftime.
Dylan Haslam and Robert McGrath made one save each to share the shutout in goal. Noah Mayernick stopped 13 shots for the Wreckers (0-12, 0-7).
Lourdes 1, Pottsville 0
POTTSVILLE — Sam Schauer netted a second-half goal to lift Lourdes to a Division I victory over Pottsville at Alumni Field.
Josh Miller assisted on the goal for the Red Raiders (7-7, 5-4 D-I).
Nathan Yablonski made that one goal stand up by making 15 saves for Lourdes. Landon Trout had two saves for the Crimson Tide (6-7-1, 4-5).
GIRLS
Blue Mountain 2, Southern Lehigh 0
ORWIGSBURG — Karley Koch made two saves as a strong defensive effort propelled Blue Mountain to a non-league victory over Southern Lehigh at the Eagles’ Nest.
Reegan Spangler got Blue Mountain (11-2) on the board in the first half, scoring off an assist by Gianna Chipriano.
In the second half, Riley Fogarty scored unassisted to give the Eagles an insurance goal.
Blue Mountain, which posted its fourth straight shutout, entered the day ranked first in the District 11 Class 3A power ratings. Southern Lehigh (8-5) ranked third.
Lehighton 4, Tamaqua 1
LEHIGHTON — Claire Bridy scored twice, including with 44 seconds left in the first half, as Lehighton (8-6) topped Tamaqua (5-7) in a non-league match.
The Blue Raiders struck first when Shaylee Gormley, assisted by Bailey Pliska, found the back of the net at 17:06.
Bridy, Laina Zimmerman and Bridy again notched goals to give the Indians a 3-1 halftime lead.
Ceanna Gormley made 17 saves for Tamaqua; Cassidy Litts stopped two shots for the Indians.
Lehighton won the JV match 5-0.
Central Columbia 6, Pottsville 1
ALMEDIA — Jes Siminitus, assisted by Riley Davis, scored a goal for Pottsville in a non-league loss to Central Columbia.
Joey Devlin had three goals and Quinlan Blake scored two for the Blue Jays (10-2). Devlin’s first goal came just 2:54 into the match. She scored again at 4:31, helping Central Columbia build a 4-0 halftime lead.
The Blue Jays outshot Pottsville 26-3. Julie Stock made 19 saves for Pottsville (7-6), and Lucy Dougherty stopped one shot for Central Columbia.
