GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Nativity 3, Weatherly 0

POTTSVILLE — Finley McNamara hit 13 kills and four aces to lead Nativity past Weatherly 25-14, 25-10, 25-11 on Monday in a Schuylkill League Division II girls’ volleyball match atop Lawton’s Hill.

Lily Baran notched seven kills; Chloe Covell hit seven aces; and Addisan Ricard posted 29 assists and five aces for Nativity (11-7, 9-4 D-II), which is 10-4 since it started the season 1-3.

With the win, Nativity moved one step closer to earning a wild-card spot into next week’s Schuylkill League playoffs.

For Weatherly (1-16, 0-13), Abby Weston had 11 assists and four service points; Kendra Moyer chipped in six digs and three service points; and Kelly Reiner posted six digs and two blocks.

North Schuylkill 3, Minersville 0

MINERSVILLE — Brigid Flynn had four aces, five kills and three digs as North Schuylkill defeated Minersville 25-13, 25-7, 25-13 in a non-league match.

Kyla Carado added five kills, two aces, two blocks and two digs, while Lauren Powis contributed five digs, four aces and two kills for the Spartans (8-7).

For the Miners (2-18), Aliyah Webster made 10 digs; Caty Ilsley hit four kills; and Bella Cruz posted five digs, four assists and three aces.

North Schuylkill won JV 2-0.

Tri-Valley 3, Halifax 0

HALIFAX — Callie Melocheck combiled 30 assists, 11 service points, four digs and four aces to lead Tri-Valley past Halifax 25-13, 25-15, 25-7 in non-league action.

Faith Melocheck added 13 kills, 12 service points, six digs and three aces, while Liv Lupole posted 15 service points, nine kills, eight digs and five aces for the Bulldogs (16-0). Other top players for Tri-Valley included Kirra Klinger with 12 digs, five service points, four assists and two aces; and Lexi Lesher and Emma Moore with four kills apiece.

Tri-Valley remains the No. 1-ranked team in Class A in the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association state rankings. Marian entered the Class A list this week at No. 10.

Tri-Valley won JV 2-0.

Tamaqua 3, Schuylkill Haven 1

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Millie Black posted 15 kills, five aces and two assists to spark Tamaqua past Schuylkill Haven 25-22, 22-25, 25-12, 25-11 in a non-league match.

Leah Black added eight kills, 15 digs and three aces, while Madison Schock had a big night with 21 assists, 11 aces, 15 digs and two kills for the Blue Raiders (10-10).

For the Hurricanes (5-11), Lydia Hartz had 18 digs and 13 assists; Hannah Nelson added five kills, three aces, five digs and four blocks; and Grace Line notched 34 digs and two assists.

Schuylkill Haven won JV 2-0.

In other non-league matches, Mahanoy Area defeated Executive Education 3-0, and ELCO topped Pine Grove 3-0.
