HS Soccer: Minersville boys knock off Tri-Valley in key Division II clash

BOYS’ SOCCER
Minersville 3, Tri-Valley 0
MINERSVILLE — Jordan Bowers netted a pair of first-half goals Tuesday to set the tone for Minersville’s Schuylkill League Division II boys’ soccer victory over Tri-Valley.
Mackaiden Sinko, assisted by Camden Rogers, added a goal in the second half for the Battlin’ Miners (14-3, 7-2 D-II), who clinched a Schuylkill League playoff spot with the win.
In addition, Minersville moved into a first-place tie in the division with Shenandoah Valley (10-7, 7-2). The Miners travel to Shenandoah on Thursday to take on the Blue Devils. Minersville won the first meeting this season 4-0 on Sept. 15.
Dylan Haslam made six saves to post the shutout in goal for Minersville, which has won nine in a row. Brayden Leese stopped six shots for the Bulldogs (11-6, 7-3).
Pine Grove 4, Lourdes 1
SHAMOKIN — Tanner Kolb’s hat trick sparked Pine Grove to a Division I victory over Lourdes.
Kolb scored all three of his goals in the first half as Pine Grove (14-4, 10-2 D-I) built a 3-0 lead at halftime.
J.J. Kramer had one goal and Jayson Lengel notched one assist for the Cardinals.
Orrin Mariano scored one goal for the Red Raiders (9-9, 6-6).
Nathan Yablonski made nine saves for Lourdes. Peyton Renninger (2 saves) and Dru Herber (1 save) shared time in goal for Pine Grove.
The JV match ended in a 1-1 tie.
North Schuylkill 9, Marian 1
HOMETOWN — Aaron Brayford and Wesley Urban scored two goals apiece to power North Schuylkill to a Division I win over Marian.
Evan Damiter, Angel Torres, John Walsh, Max Helwig and Brendan Yotko added single goals for the Spartans (7-10, 4-7 D-I).
Chase Haubner scored a goal for Marian (2-14, 0-10).
Braiden Davis made four saves for North Schuylkill. Isa Gjoca stopped 19 shots for the Colts.
Montgomery 8, Williams Valley 1
WILLIAMSTOWN — Dylan Sherman scored five goals to lift Montgomery over Williams Valley in a non-league match.
Ethan Lebo scored one goal for the Vikings (2-15).
Xzavion Tennis made 18 saves for Williams Valley. Connor Irwin stopped eight shots for Montgomery,
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Blue Mountain 2, Moravian Academy 1 (OT)
ORWIGSBURG — Kelly Canfield’s unassisted goal in the first overtime lifted Blue Mountain to a non-league victory over Moravian Academy at the Eagles’ Nest.
Reegan Spangler got Blue Mountain (14-3) on the board with a goal in the first half. Kiera Nunemacher assisted on that score, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Adelayne Diaz equalized for Moravian Academy (9-6-1), and the teams stayed tied 1-1 through 80 minutes. Canfield then connected on the game-winner in the first OT.
Karley Koch made two saves for Blue Mountain.
Tri-Valley 5, Weatherly 0
WEATHERLY — Maggie Hoffman-Long scored three goals and dished out one assist to lead Tri-Valley over Weatherly in a Division II match.
Ivy Sankus added two goals for the Bulldogs (8-10, 5-5 D-II). Emma Specht, Myah Schwalm, Kiara Smeltz and Ayla Allvord picked up the other assists.
Sophia Holt made one save to notch the shutout in goal for Tri-Valley. Kayla Kennedy stopped six shots for the Wreckers (3-12, 0-9).
