Nativity 10, Lourdes 4
POTTSVILLE — Macie Rushannon, Chloe Covell and Addisan Ricard did lots of damage in the middle of the lineup to power Nativity to a non-league victory over Lourdes atop Lawton’s Hill.
Covell held the hottest bat, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored. Rushannon finished 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and one RBI, while Ricard went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Ava Stankavage pitched a complete game for Nativity and helped herself by going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Lourdes jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Lexi Wydra (2-for-3).
The Golden Girls answered with five runs in the bottom of the first to go ahead to stay. Covell delivered a two-run single; Ricard clubbed a two-run double; and Stankavage added an RBI single.
Bella Cherry rapped a two-run single in the top of the second inning for the Red Raiders. Rushannon answered by roping an RBI triple in the bottom of the second to make it 6-3.
Nativity added on late to pull away from Lourdes. In the fifth inning, Ricard had an RBI single and Stankavage smacked an RBI double. In the sixth, Covell pounded a two-run double.
“Toward the end of the year they’re starting to really come together as a team,” Nativity coach Steve Kleeman said. “They played as a team today. We finally got our bats going, which helped our pitcher a lot. Ava’s been throwing well all year, but we gave her some runs to support her.
“It was important to answer in the first inning,” Kleeman added. “That’s set the tone for the rest of the game.”
Arianna Adams finished 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs scored for the Red Raiders.
