KUTZTOWN — Blue Mountain stayed patient early, then delivered a pair of big innings to take control on the road.
The Eagles pulled away for a 7-2 win over Kutztown in a non-league baseball game Saturday, using a balanced 10-hit attack and a steady outing from Ryan Clemas to secure the victory.
Blue Mountain struck first on a sacrifice fly from Brady Strause, but Kutztown answered and briefly grabbed the lead in the third.
The Eagles responded in the fourth, with Cohen Kirby delivering a two-run single and Josh Hoover adding an RBI to swing momentum. They added insurance in the sixth, continuing to pressure the Cougars with timely hitting and aggressive baserunning.
Kirby led the offense with two hits and three RBIs, while Strause, Aiden Finn and Frankie Russo each collected two hits. Finn added a double and swiped three bases, Hoover tripled, and Riley Sebastian worked key at-bats to help keep innings alive as Blue Mountain consistently found ways on base.
Clemas earned the win, going the distance while allowing just four hits and two unearned runs.
