HS Soccer: Minersville, Haven girls play to draw

MINERSVILLE — Two of the top girls’ soccer teams in Division II of the Schuylkill League met Wednesday afternoon — and settled nothing.
After two scoreless overtime periods, Schuylkill Haven and Minersville played to a 1-1 draw in a girls’ soccer showdown.
The Hurricanes (3-1-1, 2-0-1 D-II) struck first as Kassidy Fryer scored off an assist from Abby Farrell at 16:33.
In the second half, Emily Yoder netted the equalizer for the Miners off an assist by Danica Gill at 62:15.
For Minersville (4-1-1, 1-0-1), Bella Rizzardi made 21 saves, and Millie Bierman made one stop. For Schuylkill Haven, Ally Becker had four saves.
North Schuylkill 10, Marian 0
HOMETOWN — Mylee Bindie, Maddie Fetterolf and Sam Staconis scored two goals apiece to lead North Schuylkill to a Division I win over Marian.
Keira Wengrenovich posted the shutout in goal for the Spartans (2-4, 2-1 D-I).
Marian (1-3, 0-2) trailed 5-0 at halftime.
Blue Mountain 4, Pottsville 0
ORWIGSBURG — Hailey Scheuer scored just 6:07 into the match to set the tone, and Blue Mountain went on to defeat Pottsville in a Division I match at the Eagles’ Nest.
At 7:41, Kyleigh Batory made it 2-0 with a goal assisted by Addie Warke. Scheuer scored again for Blue Mountain (3-0, 3-0 D-I) at 23:57, and a tally by Kelly Canfield, assisted by Kendall Koch, extended the lead to 4-0 at halftime.
Karley Koch made two saves to post the shutout in goal. Rose Russell made eight saves for Pottsville (2-3, 2-1).
Pine Grove 5, Tamaqua 2
PINE GROVE — Gianna Pompei scored a pair of goals to lead Pine Grove over Tamaqua in a Division I match.
Adorabella Bonawitz, Ava Voydik and Hannah Aungst added single goals for the Cardinals (2-1, 2-1 D-I), who led 3-2 at halftime.
Kaitlyn Fredericks netted both goals for the Blue Raiders (2-2, 0-2).
Alyssa Moyer made nine saves for Pine Grove; Ceanna Gormley stopped five shots for Tamaqua.
Girls’ Volleyball
Tamaqua 3, Palmerton 0
TAMAQUA — Leah Black compiled 11 kills, 10 digs and seven aces as Tamaqua swept Palmerton 25-23, 25-19, 27-25 on Wednesday in a non-league match.
Madison Schock added 20 assists, four digs and two kills, while Millie Black tallied eight kills, nine digs and four blocks for the Blue Raiders (3-2).
