HS Volleyball: Pottsville sweeps Northwestern Lehigh

POTTSVILLE — Coming off a runner-up performance at the Southern Lehigh Tournament, Pottsville stayed hot by knocking off Northwestern Lehigh 25-12, 25-23, 25-20 on Monday in a non-league match.
Anna Burke led the Crimson Tide (6-3) with 11 kills and eight blocks. Megan Yost compiled 24 assists, 12 digs, four kills and one ace, while Ciera Kline made 17 digs.
For Northwestern Lehigh (6-2), Leah Nagle had 14 kills and 18 digs; Kayla Shaffer notched six kills, 28 assists and 19 digs; and Lexi George had 31 digs and four aces.
Northwestern Lehigh won JV 2-0.
Blue Mountain 3, Governor Mifflin 0
SHILLINGTON — Jaedyn Bartholomew amassed 14 kills, 11 digs, four aces and four blocks to lead Blue Mountain past Governor Mifflin 25-21, 25-14, 26-24 in non-league action.
Zoe Leibensperger added eight kills and two digs; Bella Grasso contributed 27 assists, two aces and three digs; and Tess Krasnay chipped in 15 digs and two aces for the Eagles (7-2).
Governor Mifflin won JV 2-0.
Tri-Valley 3, Pine Grove 0
PINE GROVE — Faith Melocheck had 15 kills, four digs and two aces to lead Tri-Valley past Pine Grove 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 in a non-league match. Tri-Valley (9-0) ranks No.1 in the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Class A state poll.
Liv Lupole compiled six kills, five digs, two aces and 14 service points, while Callie Melocheck notched 28 assists, 10 digs and one ace for the Bulldogs.
For Pine Grove (6-3), Lily Flynn contributed seven blocks, five kills and two digs; Molly Drumheller added nine digs; and Kamryn Henning hit four kills.
Pine Grove won JV 2-0.
Mahanoy Area 3, Minersville 0
MINERSVILLE — Hailey Mroczka hit 11 kills to lead Mahanoy Area past Minersville 25-14, 25-8, 25-5 in a non-league match.
Sam Price added 24 assists, and Naomi Kowalick posted seven kills for the Golden Bears (5-4).
For Minersville (1-10), Caty Ilsley made five blocks; Aliyah Webster had six digs; and Arianna John hit two aces.
Mahanoy Area won JV 2-0.
Marian 3, Hazleton Area 1
HAZLE TWP. — Alena Lombardo had 13 kills, three solo blocks and six block assists to lead Marian past Hazleton Area 25-17, 25-17, 18-25, 25-21 in a non-league match.
Also for the Fillies (6-2), Lara Cancio had 10 kills and three digs; JoElle Currie added 23 assists, two aces and six digs; and Eris Hayes compiled three kills, seven assists, three aces and three block assists.
For Hazleton Area, Kali Ebers notched 11 kills and four service points, while Ava Dorneman added 10 service points and 20 assists.
Hazleton Area won JV 2-0.
Tamaqua 3, Catasauqua 0
TAMAQUA — Leah Black had six kills, six digs and two aces as Tamaqua rolled past Catasauqua 25-20, 25-5, 25-12 in a non-league match.
Madison Schock added 12 assists, 14 aces and four digs; Isadora Neifert chipped in three aces and four kills; Millie Black had nine kills, two aces and two digs; Kendle Miller hit four kills; and Carla Castro-Sencion hit five aces. Leah Black recorded her 150th kill, and Schock notched her 150th ace.
Tamaqua won JV 2-1.
MMI Prep 3, Weatherly 0
WEATHERLY — Abby Weston had 20 assists, three digs and two service points for Weatherly, but MMI Prep took the non-league match, 25-20, 25-11, 25-17.
Abigail Binder added 12 digs and four service points, while Kendra Moyer notched seven service points and five digs for the Wreckers (1-8).
For MMI (4-4), Arushi Solgama compiled four kills, seven assists, six digs, three aces and 12 service points. Georgia Washko chipped in three kills, while Shreeya Parikh added 18 assists, 16 service points, four aces and two kills.
