The Blue Mountain All-Sports Hall of Fame will induct eight new members during a ceremony at halftime of Friday’s Schuylkill-Colonial football game between Tamaqua and Blue Mountain at the Eagles’ Nest.

A gathering for new inductees, their families and current Hall of Fame members will be held before and during the game on the stadium grounds, and a reception will be held after the game at Roman Delight Restaurant on Route 61.

The Class of 2025 consists of the following Hall of Fame members: Mark Boran, 2017, swimming; Kristen Caldarella, 2008, swimming; Terry Ernst, 1972, football, track; Tyler Hartranft, 2011, football, basketball, track; Kelli McIntyre, 2006, basketball, track; Travis Moyer, 2012, wrestling, football; Greg Yutko Sr., 1974, track, cross country; and Michael Grigalonis, Honorary, athletic trainer.

Here’s a look at each inductee’s athletic accomplishments:

Mark Boran

Class of 2017

Boran was a standout swimmer for the Eagles, earning more than 1,000 career points in several relay and individual events. During his career, Boran earned 24 gold, seven silver and two bronze medals at Schuylkill League and District 11 meets. At the PIAA Swimming Championships, Boran compiled 14 top-25 finishes, including fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eight-place medals, mostly in the 100-yard backstroke.

At the time of his graduation, Boran held five Schuylkill League records, 10 school records and two meet records. He was named to the All-Area and Schuylkill League all-star swim teams all four years of his career. Boran also lettered with the Blue Mountain golf team for two years.

After graduation, Boran attended Loyola University Maryland, where he competed on the swim team four years and holds the school record in the 200 backstroke. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in accounting and later earned a Master’s in accounting.

Boran resides in the Philadelphia suburbs, where he is employed as a corporate accountant with West Pharmaceutical Services and recently achieved CPA certification.

Kristen Caldarella

Class of 2008

Caldarella excelled as a swimmer at Blue Mountain, earning more than 1,000 career points and qualifying for the PIAA Swimming Championships all four years. She was a four-time selection to the All-Area and Schuylkill League all-star swim teams.

Her District 11 medals include 11 gold and three silver medals in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle events and relays. At states, she collected 14 top-25 finishes, including silver, bronze, fourth- and sixth-place finishes in individual freestyle events. She holds the school record for the 200 freestyle.

After graduation, Caldarella attended Brown University, where she earned four letters with the swim team. She was named Most Valuable Swimmer her junior year. Caldarella then earned a Master’s degree in health administration from Columbia University.

Caldarella resides in the Boston area, where she is head of business analytics at Elation Health.

Tyler Hartranft

Class of 2011

Hartranft was a multi-sport standout at Blue Mountain, earning varsity letters in football, basketball and track and field.

For the football team, Hartranft was a two-year starter at quarterback. He set school records for passing yards and touchdowns in a season, and at graduation was Blue Mountain’s all-time leading passer. Hartranft was a team captain his senior year and was selected as the Pottsville Republican Herald Offensive Player of the Year. He was also named as first-team quarterback by the Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association and was an All-State honorable mention honoree by PA Football News.

Hartranft was also a two-year starter for the Blue Mountain basketball team and earned two letters on the track team, where he was a District 11 qualifier in the javelin.

After graduation, Hartranft enrolled at King’s College, where he was a three-year starter at quarterback for the football team. He was named as King’s College Male Athlete of the Year his senior year.

Hartranft went on to coach football at King’s College and McDaniel College before coming to the high school ranks. He is head football coach at Hamburg Area High School, where he is on the faculty as a special education teacher. Hartranft resides in the Blue Mountain area with his wife and two children.

Kelli McIntyre

Class of 2006

McIntyre was a standout on the basketball team, earning four letters and scoring more than 1,000 points in her career. She was named twice to the Schuylkill League first team and was also named to the All-Anthracite Team. In her senior year, she was selected to the PA Writers’ All-State third team. McIntyre also lettered for the Blue Mountain track team three years.

After graduation, McIntyre enrolled at Alvernia University, where she lettered on the basketball team four years. She was selected to the All-League second team three times and graduated as the fifth-leading scorer all-time in Alvernia history.

McIntyre served with the Army Reserves for seven years and is a caseworker with Access Services. She has two children and resides in Frackville with her family.

Travis Moyer

Class of 2012

Moyer excelled in wrestling and football.

In wrestling, he earned four varsity letters, finishing his career with 122 wins. He was a two-time Schuylkill League champion, earned gold, silver and fourth-place medals at the District 11 Wrestling Championships and collected a first-place and two third-place finishes at the PIAA Class 3A Northeast Regional. Moyer was a three-time PIAA state qualifier. He was named as the Blue Mountain Wrestling Scholar-Athlete his senior year.

Playing linebacker for the football team, Moyer earned three varsity letters. He was selected to the Republican-Herald All-Area first team his senior year and was a two-time Berks League Section 2 first-team all-star. He was selected as Berks League Section 2 Linebacker of the Year his senior year and was named as the Blue Mountain Football Scholar-Athlete.

After graduation, Moyer wrestled for four years at NCAA Division I Lock Haven University. He earned a BSN degree and Master’s in nursing from Liberty University.

Moyer resides in Hamburg, where he is employed with Lehigh Valley-Jefferson Health Network as a clinical informaticist.

Terry Ernst

Class of 1972

Ernst was a two-sport athlete at Blue Mountain, excelling in track and football.

Ernst earned two varsity letters on the track team and shined in the hurdles and discus events. He set school records in both the 120-yard high and 180 low hurdles, earned two silver and a bronze medal at District 11 meets and was a two-time PIAA state qualifier in the low and high hurdles. Ernst also won gold medals in hurdles events at the prestigious Mount Carmel and Pottsville Relays and set a school record for most points scored in individual events in a single season. For the football team, Ernst earned a varsity letter starting at defensive halfback, kickoff and punt returner.

After graduation, Ernst entered into the family business, J. Marlin Ernst Trucking. Ernst remained involved with Blue Mountain athletics, coaching girls’ softball for 12 years, including five years as head coach. He also served as a softball umpire for 15 years and as a PIAA basketball official for 22 years.

Ernst and his wife reside in the Orwigsburg area. He is the CEO of Ernst Trucking.

Greg Yutko Sr.

Class of 1974

Yutko was a standout runner for both the Blue Mountain track and cross country teams.

In cross country, Yutko led the Eagles to first-place finishes at the Schuylkill League and District 11 meets for two years, qualifying twice for the PIAA Cross Country Championships. He helped the Eagles to a team third-place finish at the state meet and was voted as the top runner on the team.

Competing in the 880, mile and two-mile relay events for the track team, Yutko accumulated the most points scored in a season, with all first-, second- and third-place finishes. He held the school record for the mile run.

After graduating from Blue Mountain, Yutko ran with the Lehigh-Carbon Community College cross country team, where he was the top runner for two years. He then went on to run more than 400 races in his career, including the Boston Marathon.

During this time, Yutko served as the Blue Mountain boys’ and girls’ cross country coach for seven years. During his tenure, the boys team won four Schuylkill League titles, placed second at the District 11 meet and held a 40-meet win streak.

Yutko and his wife reside in the Orwigsburg area, where he is retired from running several successful small businesses.

Michael Grigalonis

Honorary Inductee

Grigalonis is an Honorary Inductee, a category reserved for those who have made lasting contributions to the Blue Mountain athletics legacy. He achieved this distinction for his efforts and dedication in 22 years as the head athletic trainer for all Blue Mountain sports teams.

Countless Blue Mountain athletes have benefited from “Trainer Mike’s” skill and expertise, and the relationships Grigalonis developed with the individual coaches over the years are a testament to his professionalism.

Grigalonis is a 1989 graduate of Minersville Area High School, where he earned three varsity letters on the baseball team and two letters on the cross country team. He played baseball for two years at Lock Haven University before graduating from Penn State with a degree in kinesiology and athletic training. He has been nationally certified for 26 years as a NATA Athletic Trainer and holds state licensure.

Grigalonis is employed by St. Luke’s University Health Network and resides in Cressona.
