FRIEDENSBURG — The three-peat is complete for Joe Coulson.

The former Pottsville resident shot a 5-under-par 67 on Sunday to capture the overall title at the 21st annual Schuylkill County Amateur Golf Senior Stroke-Play Championships at Hidden Valley Golf Course.

Coulson finished the two-day, 36-hole tournament with a 68-67—135, winning the Senior Division title by 10 strokes over Bruce Lord (69-76—145). He becomes the first person in the history of the tournament to win three straight titles.

Jim Dietz Sr. (74-79—153), who won the Senior Division crown at the Schuylkill County Amateur Golf Match-Play Championships in July, and Michael Wells (75-78—153) finished tied for third in the Senior Division (ages 55-64).

This marked the first year that the Senior Stroke-Play was broken into three divisions — Senior Division (ages 55-64), Super Seniors (ages 65-74) and Legends (age 75 and over).

A tiebreaker was needed to determine the champion of the Super-Seniors Division.

Frank McGinty carded a 1-over 73 on Sunday to finish tied with Day 1 leader Nick Michels at 150. McGinty finished at 77-73—150, while Michels had a 73-77—150.

McGinty then won the title on the first playoff hole with a par on No. 10. Mike Muncy (79-78—157) took third in the Super-Seniors, while Roger Carl, Dave Kurzinsky and Tim Wood tied for fourth at 158.

Larry Hart then became the first-ever winner in the Legends division, shooting an even-par 72 on Sunday to finish at 84-72—156, nine strokes ahead of Day 1 leader Dennis “Soup” Campbell (82-83—165). Allen Shiner (86-89—175) was third.
